His creations bring the object forward, turning your attention to the container rather than its content. The craftsmanship and the beautiful wooden fibre are the first impressions, making this Japanese paper basket a valuable addition to any interior.
Mr Saito produces pieces that are peaceful, placed inside the living room or in the office. The materials and presentation of the products offer a sense of tranquillity and grounding. It's a sentiment everyone can benefit from, both users and guests.
The idea developed from Japan's post war scarcity of material. The technique to make the Japanese paper basket, although ancient, has been passed down and refined over the years, generation after generation.
This particular piece is made of white oak grain and plywood. It comes in two sizes. The smaller one is preferable to place near the living room and the larger one near an office, as there is usually more paper waste there.
The production is rather limited, and this Japanese paper basket is available in four different colours and woods.
