Store nail clippers and nippers clean, completely dry and protected from impact. A dedicated case or compartment is better than leaving a precision cutting tool loose in a drawer, wash bag or bathroom where it can stay damp or strike other hard objects.
Good storage protects both the metal and the alignment of the cutting edges.
Dry the tool before you put it away
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends letting nail clippers dry completely before storage. This matters because moisture can remain around pivots, springs, joints and blade contact areas even when the outside looks dry.
Do not close a damp tool inside a leather case, box or sealed pouch.
Protect the cutting edges from impact
SUWADA warns that its nail-nipper blades and fine tips can chip or become damaged if the tool is dropped. A hard impact can also disturb the alignment between the two blades.
For that reason, SUWADA recommends storing nail nippers in the box supplied with the tool or another dedicated case.
Is a bathroom a good place to store nail clippers?
A bathroom can be convenient, but it is not ideal if the tool stays in a humid area or is routinely put away damp. The more important rule is that the tool should be clean and completely dry before storage.
If your bathroom remains humid for long periods, a dry drawer, cabinet or grooming case elsewhere is a better environment for corrosion-sensitive steel.
