What Size Tamagoyaki Pan Should You Buy?

Choose your tamagoyaki pan according to the amount of egg you normally cook: in the current SUWADA Yoshikawa range, Small is for 2–3 eggs, Medium for 4–5 eggs, and Large for 7+ eggs.

Size Egg guide Total dimensions
Small 2–3 eggs 106 × 340 × 25 mm
Medium 4–5 eggs 130 × 370 × 30 mm
Large 7+ eggs 180 × 380 × 30 mm

Who should choose the Small pan?

Choose Small if you normally make compact batches using two or three eggs. It is the narrowest pan in the range.

Who should choose Medium?

Medium is the middle option for four or five eggs. It gives more surface area without moving to the largest square-format pan.

Who should choose Large?

Choose Large if you regularly make bigger batches with seven or more eggs. It is the widest pan in the range.

Does pan size change the basic technique?

The basic tamagoyaki method remains the same: cook the egg mixture in layers and roll each layer over the previous one. Pan size mainly changes the batch size and working area.

Are all three induction compatible?

Yes. The current SUWADA product specifications list all three Yoshikawa steel pans as compatible with gas, electric, ceramic and induction stovetops.

Do you need a tamagoyaki pan at all?

Not necessarily. A standard frying pan can make tamagoyaki too. Read Can You Make Tamagoyaki Without a Tamagoyaki Pan?
