A flat sheet of tin that becomes a basket in your hands
Nousaku's KAGO begins as a flat 25 × 25 cm lattice made from 100% tin. The defining feature is physical: the soft metal can be lifted and bent by hand into a three-dimensional form for fruit, bread or table objects.
What it feels like
- Substantial: about 750 g, so the flat sheet has noticeable weight before you shape it.
- Flexible metal: the open lattice bends where you guide it rather than behaving like a rigid tray.
- Cool tin surface: the material feels immediately different from wood, ceramic or woven baskets.
The transformation is the product
Use both hands to lift sections of the lattice and create the height and profile you want. A low, wide shape works for bread or serving; a taller form works as a fruit basket or sculptural object.
Why 100% tin matters
Pure tin is much softer than many common metals, which is what allows this object to be shaped by hand. Its flexibility is not a decorative trick added later—it is the central functional property of the material.

Why video matters here: this product is difficult to understand from a still image alone. The most useful online view is the movement from flat sheet to finished basket.
