Flower scissors or secateurs: which should I use?
Flower scissors are designed for fresh stems, floristry and arrangement work. Secateurs are designed for pruning woody live growth. For ikebana, traditional Ikenobo or flower-shear forms can offer a different handling style suited to arranging stems.
Can Sakagen F-170 flower scissors cut branches?
F-170 is primarily a fresh-flower tool. Sakagen specifies only light branch work of about 5 mm, so it should not be treated like a garden secateur. Do not use it on wire or other hard materials.
Why are some Sakagen flower-scissor blades coated?
The fluororesin coating helps reduce sticking from plant material and makes routine cleaning easier. Wipe the blades clean and dry after use so residue does not build up.
