A 75 ml Damascus-steel cup with a smooth, flowing surface
SUWADA forms kitchen-knife-grade Damascus steel into a small drinking cup—a difficult process because layered steel can distort or crack as it is shaped. The Glossy / Tsuya version keeps the surface smooth so the flowing Damascus pattern remains the main feature.
What it feels like
- Cool metal: the cup immediately feels different from porcelain or glass when you pick it up.
- Smooth exterior: Tsuya is the least textured of the three finishes.
- Small, concentrated scale: approximately 75 ml, designed for sake and other small pours rather than as a full-size tumbler.
Why every cup looks different
The wavelike pattern comes from the layered Damascus material itself. Forming and polishing reveal a different arrangement on every piece, so the cup you receive will not be visually identical to the photographs.
Made in very small numbers
Fewer than 50 cups are produced per year across these specialist finishes. An experienced craftsperson performs the polishing that reveals the pattern.
