A Japanese folding knife with a bold natural grain
Richly patterned and immediately distinctive, the SUWADA Masterpiece Bocote Folding Knife is made for someone who enjoys seeing the character of a natural material at first glance.
Its compact 60 mm blade is made from ATS-314 cobalt-alloy stainless steel and set within a hand-finished Bocote handle. The wood is the defining feature: flowing dark lines, warm brown tones and strong changes in grain give every knife its own visual rhythm.
Presented in a metal case, it works equally well as a refined personal tool, a collector's piece, or a memorable gift for someone who values Japanese craftsmanship and objects made to last.
For those who prefer character over uniformity
The appeal of Bocote is that it does not try to look perfectly uniform. One handle may show long sweeping lines, another tighter bands or stronger contrasts between light and dark areas.
That variation is not a defect. It is part of what makes the Bocote version special. Each knife carries the identity of the individual piece of wood from which its handle was made.
Among the natural-wood versions in the SUWADA Masterpiece series, Bocote is the most visually expressive. If Ebony is restrained and formal, Bocote is warmer, livelier and more obviously unique.
Premium ATS-314 cobalt-alloy steel
The blade is made from ATS-314 cobalt-alloy stainless steel, selected for fine cutting instruments. Its compact proportions keep the knife controlled and easy to handle while preserving the balance of the folding design.
With the blade folded away, the knife becomes a compact personal object that is satisfying to hold, carry where legally permitted, and keep ready for ordinary cutting tasks.
Designed to be used and appreciated
This is not intended to be a purely decorative knife. Its compact size makes it suitable for everyday tasks such as opening parcels, cutting paper or cord, preparing fruit or small foods, and accompanying picnics or outdoor occasions where use and carrying are permitted.
The combination of polished steel and naturally figured wood gives it a level of presence that goes beyond an ordinary utility knife.
A distinctive gift
The Bocote version is particularly well suited to someone who appreciates natural materials, visible craftsmanship and pieces that do not look mass-produced.
Presented in its metal case, it makes a strong gift for milestone birthdays, anniversaries, retirement, career achievements, collectors of Japanese tools, or anyone drawn to unusual woods and fine cutting instruments.

Natural material, individual character
No two Bocote handles are identical. Colour, grain direction, contrast and figure vary naturally from piece to piece, so the knife you receive will differ from the photographs in its exact pattern. Individual grain selection is not available.
Caring for the Bocote handle
Do not soak the knife or place it in a dishwasher. After use, wipe the blade carefully and make sure both steel and wood are completely dry before storage. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, strong heat or rapid changes in temperature and humidity.
