Historische Achtergrond
- Oorsprong: Iga-keramiek dateert uit het late 7e-eeuw, met belangrijke ontwikkelingen tijdens de Kamakura (1185-1333) en Muromachi (1336-1573) periodes.
- Ontwikkeling: De keramiek werd populair tijdens de Momoyama-periode (1573-1603) toen theeceremonies prominent werden. De natuurlijke esthetiek en aardse tinten van Iga-keramiek werden zeer gewaardeerd door theemeesters.
Kenmerken
- Klei: De klei die in Iga-keramiek wordt gebruikt is rijk aan silica en ijzer, wat het een kenmerkende textuur en sterkte geeft. Deze klei staat bekend om zijn vuurvaste eigenschappen, waardoor het ideaal is voor ovens.
- Bakproces: Iga-keramiek wordt meestal houtgestookt, wat unieke variaties in kleur en textuur creëert. Het bakproces kan natuurlijke asglazuren en een oneffen oppervlak opleveren, wat bijdraagt aan de rustieke charme.
- Esthetiek: Het aardewerk heeft vaak een ruwe, ongeraffineerde uitstraling met opzettelijke imperfecties, barsten en vervormingen, wat de Japanse wabi-sabi filosofie belichaamt, die schoonheid vindt in imperfectie en vergankelijkheid.
Opmerking: Alle Iga-keramiek zijn unieke stukken die volledig met de hand zijn gemaakt en gebakken in houtgestookte klimovens. Elk stuk is net iets anders. Verschillen tussen de foto's en uw item zijn normaal.
